Sherlock Holmes: Fact and Fiction

Please join us at the Stockbridge Library on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. for “Sherlock Holmes: Fact and Fiction.”

Sherlock Holmes emerged from the pen of Arthur Conan Doyle over 125 years ago, yet he retains his appeal in today’s e-world. How did this character, whose creator tried to kill him off after only a handful of stories, survive two world wars and all the technological and social change over the last century? Join Sherlock Holmes expert Jeff Bradway as he explores the history of the world’s greatest detective from printed page to stage, screen and beyond.

Jeff Bradway, a Stockbridge native, obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has taught college history and has been a bookstore manager. A devotee of the cases of Sherlock Holmes since childhood, Jeff joined his first Sherlockian group in 1995 and published the first of many articles on the Master of Baker Street the same year. He was inducted into The Baker Street Irregulars, the world’s oldest Sherlockian society, in 2009.
