A Library for Our Time: Renovating & Revitalizing for the Future

ELEV FRONT (800x358)

In 2011, the Stockbridge Library Association Board of Trustees engaged Centerline Architects of Bennington, Vermont, to study building code deficiencies within the Library and suggest ways to provide universal access to all areas of our building.  Nearly three years later, we have a renovation plan that will not only provide fully accessible facilities, but also upgrade our mechanical systems and technology capabilities (the last major renovation was nearly 80 years ago!).  In addition, the proposed plan will expand space for the Museum & Archives, and create new study, reading, and activity areas on the Upper Level.  All of this will help the Library better serve you, as well as advance its mission to be a vibrant center of community life in Stockbridge.

We invite you to join us at the Library on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 6:30 p.m., when Gary Corey, Principal Architect & President of Centerline Architects, will present these plans and answer your questions.  He will be joined by Starbuck Smith, head of the Library’s building committee, who has been instrumental in bringing us to this point in the process.  Curator Barbara Allen and Director Katie O’Neil also will be available to answer questions about the renovation’s impact on Museum and Library services and activities.
