Cemetery Tour: The Library: From Private Home to Public Place

Cemetery-5On Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., volunteers from The Stockbridge Library’s Museum and Archives will present the fourth cemetery tour of the 2014 season, The Library: From Private Home to Public Place.

Stockbridge’s first library was a private lending library with books delivered by market basket. Two hundred and twenty five years later, the Library is open to all, offering access to collections across the state. Come discover the people and stories behind this remarkable transformation.

The tour gathers at the cemetery gate on Main Street (Route 102), Stockbridge. Parking is available at the old Town Hall, across from the gate. A $5.00 donation is suggested.

Cemetery tours are held monthly from May through October. Each monthly tour has a different theme. All tours take place on the first Saturday of the month from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
