Heritage Walk: Stockbridge’s Historic Main Street

The Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives will participate in the Thirteenth Annual Heritage Walks Program, a partnership of the numerous heritage organizations in the Upper Housatonic River Valley, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the National Park Service.


WALKING TOUR OF STOCKBRIDGE’S HISTORIC MAIN STREET – Sunday, September 21, 2014, 11:00 a.m.

Travel back in time with Barbara Allen, Curator of the Stockbridge Library Historical Museum & Archives, through 275 years of Stockbridge history, starting with the first residents, Chief Konkapot and the Mohican tribe and moving through time to discuss Cyrus Field and his trans-Atlantic cable, and Arlo Guthrie and Alice’s Restaurant.  Along the way, you’ll hear about other significant residents of Stockbridge.

Walk is <1 mile–1 hour. Meet at the Stockbridge Library on the corner of Main Street and Elm Street, Stockbridge.
