Sunday Speaker Series: Author & Comedienne Alison Larkin

Larkin-AlisonPlease join us on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (29 Main Street, Stockbridge) as we welcome Alison Larkin – an internationally acclaimed comedienne, audiobook narrator and the bestselling author of The English American, an autobiographical novel – to our Sunday Speaker Series.

A Vogue ‘most powerful book of the season,’ and Redbook’s book club pick of the month, The English American tells the story of an adopted English woman who finds her birth parents in the U.S. It is currently under development to be made into a movie, with Alison co-writing the screenplay.

As an actress, Alison has appeared on and off Broadway with the Royal National Theater and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her many voices can be heard in dozens of cartoons and movies from work by James Cameron to The Wonderpets.

Since moving to the Berkshires with her two children in 2010, Alison has narrated over a hundred audiobooks, including The English American for which she won an Audiofile earphones award, Pride and  Prejudice – the 200th anniversary audio edition which has received outstanding reviews, and Emma by Jane Austen.

The Birthday Dinosaur, a 9 minute audiobook for children written and narrated by Alison, has just been released on Audible.com.

Alison will be giving a one night only performance of An Evening with Alison Larkin at the Mahaiwe Theater in Spring 2015 as a fundraiser for the Montessori School of the Berkshires.
