Cemetery Walk: The Red Lion Inn: From Stagecoach Stop to Community Center

On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. volunteers from the Stockbridge Library’s Procter Museum & Archives of Stockbridge History will present the third cemetery walk of the 2016 season: The Red Lion Inn: From Stagecoach Stop to Community Center.

This walk will cover the fascinating – and complex – history of the Red Lion Inn, from its founding as a store to its place in Stockbridge today as the center of the Town. It has been rescued from closing twice, owned and operated by women three different times, and was almost lost to one major fire. Come and learn all the ins and outs of this beloved landmark. You won’t look at it the same way again.

The walk gathers at the cemetery gate on Main Street (Route 102), Stockbridge.  A $5.00 donation is suggested.

This is the third of five monthly walks of the Stockbridge Cemetery, June through October. Each monthly walk has a different theme. All walks take place on the first Saturday of the month, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
