Cemetery Walk: Smart From the Start: 275 years of Education in Stockbridge

On Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., volunteers from the Stockbridge Library’s Procter Museum & Archives of Stockbridge History will present the fourth cemetery walk of the 2016 season: Smart from the Start: 275 years of Education in Stockbridge.

The town of Stockbridge began with a mission and a school.  Since then, the small town has been home to a surprisingly large number of schools and teachers. From public to private, Stockbridge had them all; and often at the same time. The tour will explore who was teaching, what they taught, and to whom. Come learn what has changed in education — and what hasn’t.

The walk gathers at the cemetery gate on Main Street (Route 102), Stockbridge. A $5.00 donation is suggested.

This is the fourth of five monthly walks of the Stockbridge Cemetery, June through October. Each monthly walk has a different theme. All walks take place on the first Saturday of the month, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
