Speaker Series: Reese Erlich on the Islamic State, Assad, Russia, and the Failure of US Policy

Join us on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. for a talk by freelance foreign correspondent Reese Erlich entitled A Reporter’s Perspective: Islamic State, Assad, Russia, and the Failure of US Policy.  Based on numerous reporting trips to the region, Erlich will discuss the growth of Syrian extremist rebel groups, the status of the Assad regime, foreign intervention, and the failure of US policy. He will provide up to date analysis and what the new US president faces in one of the world’s major crises.

Reese Erlich is a Peabody winning journalist and author of Inside Syria: The Backstory of Their Civil War and What the World Can Expect (Foreword by Noam Chomsky), recently out in paperback. He has written a total of five books on US foreign policy. He reports for NPR, Foreign Policy, VICE News, and The Progressive, among others.
