Cemetery Walk: Wheels of Fortune: The Story of Stockbridge Mills

Although today Stockbridge appears to be a quiet village surrounded by farmland, in earlier times it was a thriving industrial community.  On Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., volunteers from the Stockbridge Library’s Procter Museum & Archives will explore this aspect of the town’s life in a cemetery walk: Wheels of Fortune: The Story of Stockbridge Mills.

Stockbridge was home to many active mills from the 1740s to the 1900s.  Come explore the many water-powered industries throughout the town.  You’ll be surprised at how many mills were built and what products they made.

The walk gathers at the cemetery gate on Main Street (Route 102, Stockbridge), and takes an hour. Parking is available at the old Town Hall, across from the gate, or on the street. A $5.00 donation is suggested.

This is the first of four monthly walks of the Stockbridge Cemetery, June through September.  Each monthly walk has a different theme.  All walks take place on the first Saturday of the month, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
