Artist Reception

During the month of June, the Library is pleased to feature an exhibit of artwork entitled Remembering John D.W. Kingston, 1932 – 2017 in our lobby gallery.

This exhibit is organized by Gege Kingston in tribute to her late husband, John Kingston, with examples of his paintings, ceramics and sculpture. John Kingston grew up in New Zealand, where he studied painting at Canterbury University. He worked with leading ceramic artists in New Zealand and received a grant to study in France. He was Professor of Ceramics at the Cleveland Institute of Art before moving with his family to the Berkshires to teach Sculpture, Drawing, and 3-D Design at Bard College at Simon’s Rock. John was a world traveler and lover of life, who spent his last days painting and drawing until the end.

A reception with the artists will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019; all are welcome.  The artwork will be on display throughout the month of June.
