Wendy Pearson Named Director of the Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives

The Board of Trustees of the Stockbridge Library, Museum, and Archives has appointed Wendy Pearson as the library’s new director. She succeeds Katherine O’Neil, now director of the Lenox Library.

Pearson has held positions at the Richard Salter Storrs Library in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where she served as Director of Adult Services, and the Pelham, Massachusetts, Public Library where she served as Assistant Director. Her library work has also included employment as a reference librarian for the City Library in Springfield, and public libraries in small towns throughout western Massachusetts, including Hatfield, Sunderland, and Shutesbury.

Pearson’s early career includes employment at the Springfield Science Museum, where she served as the School Programs and Volunteer Coordinator. Pearson was a co-founder of the Western Region Program Planners group, a resource for librarians involved in presenting, organizing, and generating funding for public library programs. She also serves on the board of the Western Massachusetts Library Advocates, an organization dedicated to promoting library services and librarianship in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties.

The pursuit of accessible and broad-reaching library services drives her work. She hopes to continue to expand the tradition of vibrant and diverse programming at the Stockbridge Library and increase the number of library users and supporters. Her passion for community engagement and innovative library programming keeps her hungry for new ideas.

Pearson’s enthusiasm for libraries has brought her around the world exploring libraries of all kinds, including service as an intern at the American Library in Paris and studying global library collaborations in Florence, Italy.

When not immersed in all things library, she can be found crashing through the woods on a mountain bike, gliding down the slopes on a snowboard, trying to re-create the latest haute cuisine from local restaurants in her home kitchen, or, of course, reading a book.
