“Read for Good” Youth Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading at the Stockbridge Library is going to look a little different this year. We want to encourage kids to love books and reading. We also understand that many families in the Berkshires don’t have enough food to eat right now. It’s hard to love reading on an empty belly. That’s why we’re launching our “Read for Good” Youth Summer Reading Challenge. From June 8, 2020 to August 22, 2020, children can track their reading and help to stock a local food pantry at the same time! It’s kids helping kids!

Rewards!: Every child that participates in the program will receive a gift certificate for a small treat from a kid friendly business in Stockbridge in September. Let’s help our local businesses get back on their feet! Each participant will also receive a free book from the Library.

How to participate:

For children ages 4-8: Keep track of the amount of time you read on the sheet provided here (Reading Log). You can also pick up blank sheets at the Stockbridge Library. Every time you fill up a sheet, turn it over to choose what item you would like us to donate on your behalf to the People’s Pantry in Great Barrington, MA. Drop off your sheets in the book drop or mail them in.

For children 9-18: Every time you read a book, complete and submit this Google Form. Each book equals a donation to the People’s Pantry and you get to choose what gets donated!
