June Artist of the Month – Shany Porras

Shany Porras is a visual music artist whose abstract paintings translate the
emotion and structure of music into vibrant, minimalist compositions. With a B.F.A.
in Painting and Printmaking and a B.A. in Art History from Rice University, she draws on her classical music training and formal art education to create original works that bridge the senses.

Based in the Berkshires, Porras runs a professional painting practice focused on translating
genres like minimalist orchestral music, Shaker hymns, and contemporary film scores into visual
form. Her work has been acquired by corporate and private collections and featured in solo and
group exhibitions throughout the Northeast.
