Poetry Reading with Catherine Arnold

Event Category:

Catherine Arnold grew up in Cheshire, in the North West of England. After falling  in love with painting, she moved to the US to study at The  School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduating, she exhibited and taught widely, and received awards  from The Royal Academy of Arts, Skowhegan School of  Painting and Sculpture, Flintridge Foundation and The  Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation.

While making her living  as an artist, Catherine also wrote, torn between the equally seductive demands of words and color. Over the years,  the need to write had become increasingly urgent. Her poems  and prose have appeared in The Cincinnati Review, The  Gettysburg Review, Natural Bridge, and Prairie Schooner,  among other publications.

In April 2023, Catherine’s debut poetry collection, Receipt for Lost Words, was published by Bauhan Publishing, after winning the May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize. Her new book of poetry, The Appletree, will be published by Bauhan Publishing in spring 2025.

Catherine lives with her family in New England.
