Halloween hijinks came to the quaint and quiet village of Glendale in 1946.
On the evening of October 30th, eight ghosts, between the ages of 18 and 25, snuck into the Glendale Chapel and rang the bell…for four hours. The ghoulish bell ringers were spotted and talked to by the local constabulary and told to put an end to the late night shenanigans. But, being young and foolhardy ghosts, they returned on Halloween night for a repeat performance. The villagers were not impressed with their musical talents.
In the end, the trick was on the eight ghosts that were caught (some might say there were other ghosts who got away?). Each ghost was fined $10 and placed on six months probation. – October 31, 2025
