Researching a historical topic is akin to being a detective. You have someone or something that you are looking to research and sometimes you will find a clue when or where you least expect it.
This week we give you an artist’s rendering of the home of Agrippa Hull, Stockbridge’s most well known Revolutionary War figure. His home was located on, what is today, Goodrich Street. But what happened to his home?
Maps from 1855 to 1904 show where the house was located, but not what happened to it. Then last week, while doing some research, the answer was found! According to a newspaper article in The Berkshire Eagle, around noon on New Year’s Day 1910 the house occupied by Mrs. Eliza Kinsella and the Patrick Daily family burned. No one was hurt, but the house was a total loss and was eventually replaced.
