As this weekend will be our Annual Ice Festival, we thought it appropriate to show you this item from our collection.
Made around the turn of the last century, this is an ice scraper. Although it would not have been used by ice harvesters on Hagar Pond or Averic Lake, it would have been used in the summer time on cakes of ice harvested in the winter. To make a sweet summer treat, scrape the teeth along the ice to collect the shavings in the bowl of the scraper and then add some syrup or other flavoring and then enjoy!
