Louis H. Fenn’s Bicycle Dealership

Now that we have all had our fill of snow, let’s think Spring!

Did you know that at one time, during the turn of the last century, Louis H. Fenn ran a bicycle dealership on Elm Street. He advertised “the largest and best bicycle livery in the county.” What better way to see Stockbridge than by bicycle?

Here we have a receipt for M. Sylvester Gunn of Stockbridge, for the rental and maintenance of a bicycle between 1897 and 1901, the total coming to $4.50, roughly $172.00 today. – January 28, 2026
