Creative Composition through Photography.
Grades 9-12, Berkshire Waldorf High School.
The photographs in this exhibit are from an elective art class, one that focused on fieldwork rather than the darkroom or more technical methods of digital photography. Most photographs were taken with phone cameras. Each day, the students were given an assignment designed to guide them in the exploration of a specific formal element of photography-light, framing, narrative, subject, color, perspective, and many other components.
The overarching artistic challenge, or idea, was to reveal something new about our subjects, to show what cannot be seen.
‘If I knew what the picture was going to be like I wouldn’t take it. The challenge is more about trying to make what you can’t think of.” Cindy Sherman, American artist. B.1954
Reception for the artists will be March 12 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
