Introduction to Drug Development: From Molecule to Therapy with Dr. Leonard Sigal

The Stockbridge Library invites you to Introduction to Drug Development: From Molecule to Therapy.  Presented by Dr. Leonard Sigal, this program will walk the listener through the process whereby a good idea for a drug becomes a molecule, then is tested and ultimately approved by the FDA. We will also discuss “generics”, “biologic agents”, and “biosimilars”, as well as the concept and advantages of developing therapies for “rare diseases”, called “orphan indications”.

Dr. Leonard Sigal has been a full-time resident of Stockbridge since returning to the Berkshires in 2015. He is a rheumatologist and clinical immunologist, seeing patients at Berkshire Health Systems in Pittsfield two days a week, a consultant in drug development, a neophyte golfer, and, above all else, an avid reader.
