Join us for Online Poetry: Medicine for the Soul featuring, Cammy Thomas, author of the book of poems, Cathedral of Wish.  This was her first book which received the 2006 Norma Farber First Book Award from the Poetry Society of America. Her second book, Inscriptions, was published in 2014. Her third book, Tremors, is forthcoming in fall of 2021.  All are published by Four Way Books. Her poems have recently appeared in Compose, The Missouri Review, Off The Coast, Salamander, and Spillway, and in the anthology, Poems in the Aftermath (Indolent Books). A fellowship from the Ragdale Foundation helped her complete Inscriptions.  Two of her poems will be used as text in “Far Past War,” a choral work by her sister, composer Augusta Read Thomas, which will be performed by the Cathedral Choral Society at the National Cathedral in Washington DC, in 2021.

After growing up on Long Island, Cammy was educated primarily in California, receiving her BA and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MA from San Francisco State University. She wrote her PhD dissertation on the poetry of Alfred, Lord Tennyson. An MFA followed, from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. She has taught literature and creative writing for many years, and lives in Lexington, Massachusetts.
