Winter Birds of the Berkshires with Laura Beltran

Event Categories:

Discover some common birds that inhabit the Berkshires in the winter. We’ll learn how to identify the birds, where to find the birds, and what behaviors birds may exhibit during the coldest time of year.

Laura Beltran spent hours of her childhood immersed in an imaginative world that she and her friends created while playing outdoors. Time spent outdoors in childhood led Laura to pursue degrees in environmental biology, at St. Lawrence University in New York, and University of Wisconsin in Madison. After school, her career in environmental education began at a small nature center in Rye, New York where teaching nature for all ages became a passion. Therefore, for over 3 decades, Laura has interpreted natural history in the northeast, the southeast, and the mid-west, for non-profit organizations, government agencies, and for her own environmental education business. In Massachusetts, she was the Education Coordinator of public programs at Mass Audubon Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary for 7 years and is currently the Teacher/Naturalist at Mass Audubon Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary where she has led programs for the past 8 years. Her favorite topics include nature journaling and phenology, especially observing when her neighborhood birds arrive, breed, and leave throughout the year.
