Become a Volunteer!

The Stockbridge Library Association is a private non-profit organization providing free public library and museum services to the Stockbridge community.  Without the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to accomplish so much each year.  The Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives has many ways for volunteers to get involved all year long – or even just on a limited basis.

Below please find a list of current volunteer opportunities.  We hope that by matching your interests and availability with our needs, we can provide rewarding volunteer experiences with the Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives.

Programming: We offer a variety of programs throughout the year.  Volunteers help with publicity and, on the day of the program, greet visitors; set up and break down chairs and equipment; arrange for refreshments; and, when applicable, assist with book sales for author events. Contact our library at info@stockbridgelibrary.org

Used Book Sale Sorting:  Volunteers help throughout the year, collecting and sorting books.  Contact SLA board members Jim Daily (stockbridgers@gmail.com) or Barbara Lane (barlane@earthlink.net).

Used Book Sale Event:  During the used book sale (three days in July), volunteers set up tents; move pallets, tables and benches; place books on and under tables and on benches; restock books: serve as cashiers; sell baked goods; and remove everything at the end of the sale.  Contact SLA board members Jim Daily (stockbridgers@gmail.com) or Barbara Lane (barlane@earthlink.net).

Baking for Used Book Sale: Volunteers bake goodies for purchase at the used book sale in July. Contact Stephanie Adler (stephanieadler17@gmail.com).

Museum & Archives: M&A volunteers work with our Curator, India Spartz  They inventory materials, care for artifacts, enter data, and assist in a variety of ways at M&A programs. Contact India Spartz (ispartz@cwmars.org).

Reshelving:  Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis to reshelve and organize library materials. Please send an email to info@stockbridgelibrary.org.

Library Gardens: Usually working as a group, volunteers help keep our new garden magnificent by watering and weeding on a regular basis, seasonally.  It’s fun!  Contact SLA board member Stephanie Bradford (sbradfordc311@gmail.com).

Please let us know if you would like to volunteer by contacting the appropriate person listed above, or send an email to info@stockbridgelibrary.org.  You can help at one event, or make a yearlong commitment, and anything in between.  We offer something for everyone!

Thank you again for all you do to support our beloved Stockbridge Library, Museum & Archives.  We couldn’t do it without you!
